@William- you can try to rationalize it all you want. The definition of Blackface is "theatrical makeup used by white people to play black people." Which is exactly what this kid did. Regardless of what his intent was, blackface is inseparable from it&aposs history. The swastika had many different meanings before it became the symbol of Nazis, but I doubt very seriously if Jews (or anybody else for that matter) would find it acceptable if I decided to parade around with one on my jacket.

i was thefirst blackface comment, and i was actually exaggerating my second reaction (my first reaction was A MOVIE WITH EDDIE MURPHY AS EVERY CHARACTER). I&aposm well aware this isn&apost blackface, it just seemed like a pretty obvious target.

I do think there is a race issue in the costume but it is pretty small or can be overlookedfor more important things. On the other hand that Wayans movie really was pretty racist/unfunny.

Finally, loved the guy who couldn&apost spell Kanye west&aposs name.

Again, I reiterate, black face paint and the archetype "blackface" are NOT one and the same. RW - "Blackface" as it relates to "Minstrel" & "Darky" is one of the most horrific parts of our nations history. I agree that "blackface" is un acceptable. But... this white kid painted his face black to portray an elderly black woman. The image solely depics a grandmother that happens to be black. If he meant to degrade her he certainly would have not used a pearl necklace, pearl earrings and wavy hair. If he wanted to be degrading there are many stereotypical options he could have used to achieve the theme.

@RW - White - as in anglo saxon - Howard Beach is not white... you know very well thats as ethnic as a place gets! (Italian) That is a melting pot of cultures...you would get whooped there along with me...thats just as bad as Roosevelt...only they keep the area looking good.
